About Us

Attorney Melissia R. Ball began her legal career as a secretary in a personal injury law firm. After being allowed to “assist” with several trials she became interested in becoming a trial lawyer. After receiving her Associate Degree (Paralegal) at Walters State Community College (WS), she went on to became one of a few certified legal assistants (paralegal) to be recognized by the National Organization of Legal Assistants which among other prerequisites requires passage of a rigorous two day testing. 

Ms. Ball attended Tusculum College and received her Bachelor of Science degree. Later, she attended the Nashville School of Law and received her Doctor of Jurisprudence. 

In 2006, Ms. Ball became the co-founder and CEO of the law firm of Myers & Ball, LLP, in Newport, Tennessee. In early 2022, upon the sudden death of her law partner, the firm began transitioning into what is now Melissia R. Ball, Attorney at Law-a sole proprietorship. She is admitted to practice in all Courts in the State of Tennessee including the Tennessee Supreme Court, the U.S. District Courts (Eastern/Middle/Western Districts of Tennessee); the United States Court of Appeals (Sixth Circuit) and the Supreme Court of the United States. She is also admitted Pro Hac Vice in the state of Kentucky. Since becoming an attorney, her practice focuses primarily in the practice areas of personal injury, workers’ compensation and social security disability. 

She is one of the founding members of the Cocke County WS Alumni Ambassadors. WS bestowed upon her the prestigious honor of Distinguished Alumni.
